ACTIVITIES

There is a huge range of things to do in the area whatever the weather and whatever your energy levels.

The countryside and the mountains around us are stunningly beautiful and draw visitors to the area throughout the year.  They regularly feature in the Tour de France and if you’re wanting to test yourself by following the routes taken by all of the cycling greats, we have a whole page dedicated to Cycling in the area.

However, if cycling is not for you (or if you're here to support someone that is cycling!) below are just a few of the activities you can do nearby, contact us for more ideas.

Walking

The walking is fantastic with plenty of variety for all abilities and is an excellent way to see some of the flora and fauna of the mountains.  We have walked many of the routes ourselves and have maps and guides for guests. Pick up a sandwich at the local bakers or make a picnic and you'll be set for a great day out.

Walking in The Pyrenees
Winter sports

It is a little known fact that The Pyrenees frequently have more snow than The Alps.  They are also easier on the budget. We are 30mins from the ski resort of La Mongie, with over 100kms of runs. 20mins away there's an area for snow-shoeing, huskies and cross-country skiing.

Skiing in The Pyrenees
Families

Children love it here!  When they're not exploring the woods and shallow streams dotted around, there are several excellent animal parks within easy reach.  There is also climbing, either through river gorges or the trees, white water rafting, swimming pools, spas and even donkey hire!

Markets & cuisine

Good food is intrinsic to life here! Bagneres has a wonderful Saturday market and there are plenty of artisan food producers to explore in the area - don't miss trying the cheese! The wine regions of Madiran and Jurancon are 50mins away.

There are also Abbeys, Castles and of course, the famous town of Lourdes, all within 25mins of us.

Other activities

Beyond cycling, walking and skiing, there is a wide range of other activities to suit all tastes, including the Pic du Midi Observatory, horse riding, white water rafting, canyoning, fishing, spa treatments, climbing, via ferrata, shopping or eating out – give us a call and we can advise – some of it is seasonal but all is easily accessible from Bagnères and your Allez Pyrenees base.
