Yes, and it's lovely.
Smoking is only permitted on the outside terraces and in the garden, providing it does not inconvenience other guests.
There is a fridge, a kettle and a microwave in the kitchenette attached to the guest lounge. Plates, cutlery, glasses and serving utensils are also provided. Guests are free to prepare their own meals for enjoying on the terraces or in the guest lounge.
For stays of 5 nights or more, we will happily do a light wash of sports gear, t-shirts, underwear etc as part of the services we offer included in the price of your stay. For other occasions a small fee of 5euros will be incurred.
We welcome our canine friends! We ask that they travel with their dog bed and dinner service. The gardens are secure so long as the gate is kept shut, but owners will need to ensure fellow guests love dogs as much as they do before letting them roam free and any mess left, disposed of.
Finally we ask that dogs are not left unattended for more than 2 hrs at a time in the rooms.
Anyone severely allergic to pets should flag this to Andy and Caroline at the time of their booking.
We regularly and happily cater for vegetarian, vegan, paleo, gluten-free and dairy free (and any combination of the five) for other, less common diets we will be glad to discuss your requirements with you in advance. For those with any severe allergies, please contact us before finalising your booking.
If you are a group and you haven’t yet checked in with us, send us an email with at least 1 week’s notice so that we can write a menu and clear it with you before you arrive. In other situations, we’d like 48 hours notice.
On the night, there is no choice of menu, however we flex dishes to cater for dietary requirements and will discuss the dishes offered with guests before the menu is fixed. We want to ensure that we serve up a meal that everyone is going to love so we also like to know if there’s something that a guest doesn’t like to eat.
Yes we can, although it depends on what you are hoping to do. Some require a deposit up front, in which case there will need to be some direct contact for credit card details to be provided. Most activities have multi-lingual staff available to help.
Whether it is by car, bike or by foot, getting into the hills and mountains is the number one, absolute must. After that, Lourdes is very interesting and whilst the main draw is the Basilica, the museum in the Castle set on a rocky outcrop, has great views and exhibitions on Pyrenean life. For animal lovers, a visit to one or both of the Parc Animalier or the Donjon d'Aigles (Birds of Prey) is definitely recommended and they are conveniently close to each other. Definitely eat at a traditional restaurant, we love Etape du Berger and Auberge de Beyrede as they are in a mountain setting with fabulous views. Finally, if you're here on a Saturday, spend an hour or so walking around Bagnere's market, it's wonderful.
Yes they are. Setting aside the obvious winter sports, some walks and rides are only accessible once snow has cleared from the routes. For other activities, July and August are peak season and June and September are mid-season and opening times etc may vary. We can advise you depending on what you are wanting to do.
There are the standard bike tools and pumps, along with hanger-straightener, chain breaker,. We also have oils and cleaning products available for guests.
Clothing: It pays to be flexible and to prepare for almost any sort of weather.
Bike kit: whilst there are a couple of bike shops nearby, they don’t carry components for all bikes. Apart from a puncture repair kit, a spare hanger and a spare spoke can come in handy (easy to pack and a big impact if either fail).
Nutrition: we sell cereal bars, electrolyte tabs here at cost price. Bring gels if you prefer them.
The region is pretty easy to navigate around but whilst we do not provide formal guiding, Andy is easily persuaded to join cyclists on a ride. If he’s not able to join, we find spending time with groups over breakfast discussing routes for the day very effective. Depending on the weather, rider ability/inclination and choice of lunch stop, routes can be tailored to best meet peoples’ needs.
We have gpx files for the most popular rides around The Cols, and a few for beautiful, less-well-known rides in the foothills. We are also very happy to spend time plotting a route with you to ensure that you get exactly what you’re looking for.
